Chilton/Hayes Manual, or other

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – www.helminc.com best manual, bar none. Hi All, I am thinking about picking up a manual for my 2001 Civic LX. Any recomendations? I want something very detailed (eg. full wiring diagrams, etc). Thanks I got  the shop manuals from helm for ford, the one book for the 93 taurus cost $85 and did not have anyting in it about electric, troubleshooting, etc., just the engine and most major body panels. Do you have  the Honda manual from Helm? does it include the electrical, and the other stuff or do you have to get another manual from them? i just bought a 01 Civic, and like the have the complete set of books from helm. always did it in the past, 73 torino, about $10 books $70. 83 mustange 10 books $95. 75 Datusn one book $20(covered everything). now they want just under $100 for one book that covers just one section of the vehicle… Does your helm Honda book cover it all???? thanks for a reply. 98 civic hatch. the book i have covers all civics, 96-98 (since thats when i got the book). complete electical, all systems, all models and features. bout as thick as an LA phone book, too. one volume, ran i think under $60. already used it to… do valve clearance check replace plugs bleed/replace brake and clutch fluid replace coolant. (i never would have known about the drain plug on the back bottom of the block if i hadnt had the helm manual.) however… i HAve heard about some manuals being multi-volume, and hella expensive. friend has a 91 LS400 and he said the books for that run about $300.

thanks for the reply, thats what i wanted to know, it covered more than just one system. a call to the order takers at helm would have done no good…

There’s an additional book from Helm which covers removal and replacement of body parts-bumpers, headlights, fenders, etc. Very handy, I’m sure.

Get the shop manual from honda.  Expensive, but worth every penny.

I got mine from Helm, Publications Division, 1-800-782-4356. They sell the service manual and the electric troubleshooting manual. Not cheap. Good luck, GHVeteto
